Windermere is set to host another successful Christmas Celebration on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December as organisers disclose record stallholder interest and a quadrupling of the entertainment budget. The family friendly weekend festival builds on what was reported as being Windermere’s busiest trading day in 30 years at last year’s event.
The Christmas event continues to focus on food, drink and craft stalls from both local and national producers whilst now looking to expand the offering with an exciting programme of musical performers.
Event Director Kate Barton of Windermere Tourist Information Centre spoke of the improvements saying:
“The massive success of last year has given us a great platform to grow this community focused event sustainably by increasing the stall offering and expanding the entertainment. We have given local producers priority and our packed programme of musicians are almost exclusively from the local area. With Father Christmas booked to visit for the whole weekend, as well as two snow cannons, we cant wait to see the town come alive for Christmas.”
Organised as a non profit community event by Windermere Tourist Information Centre, Mountain Goat and Windermere Councillor Ben Berry this years event continues to generate significant investment from local businesses and sponsors.
Windermere’s Councillor Ben Berry praised the community commitment to the event saying:
“When you’ve got major stakeholders and businesses like McClures, Booths, Windermere Lake Cruises, Lamplighters, Rayrigg Motors, Cumbria Tourism, Windermere Town Council, The Good Life Cottage Company and so many more, all excited and keen to back this event we know we are on the right track. The support they gives multiplies as it allows us to give an opportunity to so many small local producers, many from Windermere and Bowness, to come and sell their wonderful food and craft. This leads to a win win with the shops benefiting on the weekend and every resident having the chance to come and enjoy this wonderful Christmas Celebration.”
The organisers are looking for volunteers, if you would like to get involved in this fun and exciting event please get in touch.
